Millie Alcock discusses her casting as the new Kara Zor-El in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in the DC Universe.

Milly Alcock has opened up about joining James Gunn’s DC Universe via her casting as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow star. While David Corenswet is set as Superman for Superman: Legacy, Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters,” will introduce another major Kryptonian in Gunn’s DC Universe. Based on the comic of the same name, Supergirl: Woman of the Tomorrow will focus on Kara Zor-El as the DCU adapts Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s critically acclaimed series.

After having screen tests in Atlanta earlier this month, Gunn announced that Alcock is officially cast as the new Girl of Steel for the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie. Hours after her announcement, Alcock took to Instagram to celebrate the news.

Alcock thanked Gunn and the DC Universe audience “for trusting me with Kara / Supergirl” and mentioned being thrilled to be “part of the DC fam.” Alcock becomes the latest actress to play Supergirl on the big screen following Sasha Calle’s version in The Flash movie as part of the DCEU movie timeline.

Who Is Milly Alcock from Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow

Still a newcomer to Hollywood, Alcock made her big break as the young iteration of Rhaenyra Targaryen on the HBO series House of the Dragon, a Game of Thrones prequel. Before the 23-year-old Australian actress garnered critical acclaim for this portrayal, Alcock had starred in the dramedy series Upright, playing Meg Adams. In the film, Alcock played Jien in the 2018 movie The School, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow becoming her next big feature film.

House of the Dragon led to Alcock gaining much online support for the Supergirl role, with many DC Universe fans suggesting her as the new Girl of Steel. This was even before the news that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow was eyeing her and Meg Donnelly as the final frontrunners. While Gunn has yet to confirm or deny it, Alcock’s Supergirl is reportedly set to make her DC Universe debut in Superman: Legacy.

With the DC Universe finally having its new Supergirl, it will be exciting to see what Alcock brings to the heroine who has been reimagined multiple times on the big and small screens. If she ends up being in Superman: Legacy, seeing her dynamic with Corenswet’s Man of Steel will also be fun. Hopefully, more news about Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow emerges as the DC Universe prepares Kara for her new cinematic adventure.
